Transmission Electron Microscope

FEI Tecnai 12T,  120 kV TEM with Gatan DualVision 300W side-entry digital camera as well as standard EM film capabilities (Resolution, d=0.1nm(1Å)).

The FEI Tecnai 12T is a 120 kV transmission electron microscope that provides both film and digital micrography.   It has a single tilt, three-axis (x,y & z) motorized stage.  This instrument is capable of low dose microscopy where the specimen is sensitive to beam damage.  It can do selected area diffraction with pattern acquisition with the digital camera, and it has the capability to be extended to remote viewing for distance collaboration.  Control and function are supported by a Windows 2000 Pro PC workstation and software that provides facilitated use for novice and irregular users as well as accessible control and setup for advanced users.  User setups are stored with user profiles in conjunction with the Windows NT security profiling system.  Digital images stored with the Gatan DM3 format can be read and processed in the ImageJ software that is available for no cost from the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, USA.
